Australian Wildflower

Nine blocks featuring many of Australia’s best loved flowers can be found in the quilt. The blocks are arranged in a traditional setting and surrounded by a spectacular appliquéd border.

Summer Roses

The appliqué blocks have the look of Baltimore style set with pieced geometric designs. Prairie points provide a frame to complement this unusual setting.

Mille Fleurs

Based on colourwash technique, individual small squares are cur from a multitude of floral prints. The squares have been arranged to form a large oval central medallion surrounded by “pieced blocks”.

Poppies Medallion

The soft delicate blooms have been drawn from real specimens. Mostly hand dyed fabrics have been used to achieve a realistic look. Multiple borders enhance the central design.

Broderie Perse Applique

Broderie Perse a French term for Persian embroidery is a technique of cutting individual design elements from numerous fabrics and appliquéing them to a background.

In this quilt flowers and foliage have been cut from eight different fabrics and arranged in a large bouquet. A hand dyed fabric surrounds the central medallion.

Baltimore Style

This quilt is a classic design by Patricia Cox and is in keeping with the mid 19th C beloved Baltimore appliqué quilts. The richness of the modern Baltimore style is conveyed by wreaths of abundant colourful flowers, cornucopias spilling over with foliage, urns, bouquets and a basket filled with the generosity of Nature.

This Jinny Beyer tessellated design exemplifies the skilful use of colour tint and tone. The machine and hand piecing involves joining multiple segments, points and curves.
